Caterpillar & Butterfly Room (toddler) 2-3

These rooms cater for children rising two to rising three years old. Transition to will be discussed with parent/carers. These rooms promote toddlers to develop confidence and independence in themselves.

During the day, children will have access to a rich environment within several differing areas of the room. We provide a continuous provision of sand, water, messy play, block play and also a quiet area for reading stories and relaxing and a home corner. All of our resources and activity areas are appropriate for the age group and designed to promote and stimulate your child’s development, learning and independence.

Children will always be on the go and really benefit from large and small physical play. We offer free flow play from the room to the garden on a daily basis and also have an indoor climbing frame and physical activity area for children to practice and strengthen their physical movements.

The children in this group have access to milk, water and diluted juice throughout the day and eat lunch in the dining area. There is also an array of snacks, including fruit and other healthy options for the children as and when they are ready. Many parents feel that at this age their children are ready to begin toilet training. The staff will happily help parents by continuing their method that they are using at home. It is advisable at this stage to bring in plenty of changes of clothing, also a named potty, if applicable, for their child’s exclusive use.
